A bit of progress was made on my scarf during Monday Night Football. I’ve been carrying it all around in this little bag I first saw on Soulemama years ago. I made a ton of these little Buttercup Bags for all the girls at my sister’s wedding and kept a few for myself. It’s the perfect size right now, we’ll see as it lengthens! I’ve a ton of time to knit away at it, I figure I have till December before the weather cools enough to contemplate wearing it! I may still be reading Tolkien at that time too. Yes, finally, after many, many years of fighting it I’ve finally sat down with the Fellowship of the Ring. The difference this time is that I’ve skipped every single prologue and mention of Hobbits and their Habits till I found the real first chapter. Much better!
The scarf looks wonderful! I read LOTR in high school and have been meaning to read it again (my 12 year old has read it a dozen times or more!), but am waiting until the majority of my kids can follow along and take interest–maybe another two years or so…
What a wonderful start. I have been thinking of trying beaded knitting – when I get done with birthday and Christmas presents. That little bag may end up being one of those present though, it’s cute!
The bag is very fun to sew too, Julia, give it a shot! I made well over a dozen assembly-line style and every one of them was so much fun. All were in different tropical blue batiks.
The scarf is going to look great! I really like the beads in the scarf. I’ve only read the firs book in the ‘ring’ trilogy, and I’ve had to skip the prologue as well. Just could not follow it for the life of me…
I love the beads with the yarn, very beautiful! The bag is so lovely and it carries knitting!! What could possibly be better?
Aaaah!!! You’re my 500th comment! Marianna and I were watching tonight, wondering whom it would be. I love that it is you! You always inspire me with your amazing knitting skills and the projects you accomplish.
What a bright blue color. Like shades of the ocean. How do you add the beads?
That scarf is going to be amazing!
I tried reading the Hobbit years ago and just couldn’t stick with it. Would love to try again and read through the Lord of the Ring books too…we’ll see tho. Lovely color on that yarn! Gorgeous!
I have tried and tried, but TLOTR is still unread on my bookshelf. Maybe I can make it a 2012-goal. The knitting looks great, what a great color.
The scarf is really gorgeous. It looks like the sea, in a very Tolkein-esque way. I think an elf could wear it.
love the richness of that color!
